Oslob's reputation as a whale shark spotting area began, it's said, when a tourist noticed their presence in the area and hired a fisherman to take him out to see the big fish. Since then, its fame has spread. "People first started coming to see the whale sharks in Oslob around three years ago, in 2012," explains Edgar Mirambel. Popularity hasn't scared the whale sharks away. A favorable environment and free feeding sessions -- krill, small fish and sea plants are on the menu -- from local fishermen keep them in the area. Mirambel explains that Oslob was struggling to rely on farming and fishing until whale shark tourism began to draw the crowds to this sleepy, backwater town. CNN

Aguinid Waterfalls in Tangbo comprises five different tiers along Tangbo river. Each tier has a unique waterfall. One can never reach the peak or last waterfall without climbing the limestone walls of each waterfall from the lowest to highest. Aguinid Falls is composed of five different tiers along the Tangbo River, with each level having a unique cascade. One can only reach the other falls by passing and climbing the limestone paths of the flowing waters up to the highest level. This is why Aguinid is described as the kind of falls that get a visitor really wet, with its shallow waterbeds that also serve as the only pathway up, rocky terrain, and fast-flowing waters. Going up the falls to the water source, according to a hotel and travel magazine, is like climbing Rapunzel’s long, long hair. Guess what you’ll find in the waterway’s surrounding canopies if you’re lucky enough. Iguanas! myCebu.ph
DUMAGUETE CITY is known as “The City of Gentle People.” It’s easy to see why – this is a serene university town filled with genteel locals, and its atmosphere is conducive to artistic and scholarly pursuits. Silliman University is the most prominent among Dumaguete’s universities and colleges. Established in 1901, it is the oldest American-founded university in Asia. Stroll around the campus and visit the Silliman Anthropological Museum, which contains artifacts that date back 2,000 years and an ethnographic compendium of the different indigenous groups of the Philippines.
Cebu is one of the best places you have to visit in the Philippines. It is an island with fantastic beaches and restaurants as well. The Cebuano’s have a penchant for good food so it is no wonder that there are plenty of restaurants in Cebu. You can categorize the restaurants into three. There are restaurants when you are on a budget, for mid range budget and restaurants for splurging, also called the queen city of the south. Cebu is a place where the modern life of the city and the paradise of beautiful beaches meet. You can enjoy a laid back life in a beautiful beach in just one hour. Cebu is surrounded by beautiful beaches in the north, east, west and south. (reproduced from Philippines Insider)
- Capilay Spring Park A natural spring fed swimming pool in the centre of San Juan. A favourite with the locals at weekends.
- San Isidro Labrador Convent Reputed to be the biggest and one of the oldest convents in the Philippines, the Spaniards started construction in 1887 and was completed in 1894. Declared as a historical landmark by the Philippine Historical Commission.
- Balete Tree Supposedly enchanted old tree covered in hundreds of roots and vines. Under the tree is a natural free fish spa, which is probably more entertaining/interesting than the tree itself! There is now an old man there who collects P10 from each visitor.
- Salagdoong Beach 6 kms northeast of Maria. Favourite with the locals and great for swimming. There are also water slides (closed as of February 2014) and places to dive into the sea (still open, a 7m & 10m jump).
- Siquijor Beach Several white sand beach resorts dot the coastal areas.
- San Juan Beach Lots of beach resorts and great for snorkelling and scuba diving.
- Cambugahay Falls Impressive 3 tiered waterfalls just outside Lazi. Great for swimming & you can jump from one tier of the waterfall. There is also a rope swing. WIKITRAVEL.ORG
